The video and the article about when Rasmus Lerdorf stated that in his opinion all PHP frameworks suck had great reprecussion. In this podcast the debate about reasons for this opinion continued with Manuel Lemos, Cesar Rodas and Yasir Siddiqui, the winner of PHP Innovation Award edition of 2013.

They also talked about the the Uniter PHP interpreter written in JavaScript, plans to remove the MySQL and IMAP extension in PHP 5.6, whether the next major PHP version should be PHP 6 or PHP 7.

The PHP Programming Innovation Award Winner of 2012 was announced. An interview with the winner, Karl Holz from Canada, was one of the main topics of the episode 33 of the Lately in PHP podcast conducted by Manuel Lemos and Ernani Joppert.

The PHP Standards Group is trying to push new specifications for PHP coding standards. Whether PHP developers need and will adopt these standards was one of the main topics discussed by Manuel Lemos and Arturs Sosins in episode 24 of the Lately in PHP podcast.

They also discussed the complaints of Linus Torvalds on the limitations of GitHub handling Git pull requests and whether that will affect the processing of pull requests to the PHP core project.

Other topics include the latest PHP 5.4.3 and 5.3.13 bug fixes, the chart of PHP releases over time, and the JavaScript Innovation Award initiative that is about to start and repeat the success of the PHP Innovation Award.
